Why uPVC goes green and grey
Rooflines are exposed to everything — rain splashing off the roof, algae spores, dust from nearby fields and roads, and, in many Norfolk and Suffolk villages, overhanging trees. Over a few years that builds into green streaks along the soffits and a grey, streaky film on the face of the gutters. It doesn't come off with a quick hose down, but with the right approach it cleans up beautifully.

How it's done
We use reach-and-wash poles and soft brushes with purified water and a cleaning solution suited to uPVC, so there's no harsh scrubbing and no risk of scratching the surface. Stubborn black streaks on the gutters (often called “tiger stripes”) are treated individually. The whole roofline is rinsed so nothing is left behind to streak.
It pairs perfectly with a gutter clear-out: the inside flows freely, and the outside looks brand new.

Will cleaning damage my uPVC?
No. We use soft brushes and cleaning products designed for uPVC — no abrasive pads or solvents that could dull or scratch the finish.
Can you remove black streaks from gutters?
In most cases, yes. Those streaks are a mix of dirt and oxidation. They're treated individually and usually come off completely, though very old, weathered uPVC can sometimes keep a slight shadow.
How long does a roofline clean take?
A typical three-bedroom house is usually completed in a few hours. We'll give you a time estimate when we quote.
